Programs

Our Programs

Every child is an individual and each family has its own unique issues. Ramakrishna Mission Boys’ Home has a multifaceted programme plan in place to address the different needs of children and their families. We are committed to the holistic development of our residents to realise their full potential, and a multi-dimensional approach to empower the families to develop strategies to improve their situations and be prepared for
re-unification.

Educational

Top priority is given to education. Our residents go to mainstream schools, preferably near the Home. Help and guidance are provided by the Swamis, care staff, professional intervention (when required), and tutors (volunteers). A well thought-up routine has been developed to facilitate the growth and progress of each individuals. Structured study periods ensures that the residents are gainfully engaged to study and to complete their school assignments timely. Their progress is closely monitored by keeping in touch with the schools and through periodic discussions with the tutors

Rehabilitation

Children and their families are interviewed to assess the suitability for admission by a trained professional social worker. Residents attend regular counselling and consultation with the social worker to keep track of their emotional, psychological and behavioural development. Family interventions and group works are conducted to resolve differences and to empower individuals to change for the better. Therapeutic programmes and specific programmes (targeted issues) are in place to promote healthy growth in residents and to motivate them to keep improving.

Recreational

Recreational activities enhance the Physical and Mental development of residents. Scheduled regular playtime is part of the daily routine. There is a big field where the residents can play football, crickets and other outdoor games to keep fit. Indoor games include, Badminton, Table-tennis, Carom, Billiard, Table-soccer, TV games console, Puzzles, a variety of Board & Card games and a computer lab for both academic enrichment and leisure (computer games and entertainment). For the quieter individuals, a well-stocked library provides a wide range of books for those who love to read. Regular selected viewing of TV programmes and Videos is also permitted for the residents to relax. For activities that are more therapeutic in nature, there are Yoga and Tabla lessons for interested individuals.

Moral & Spiritual Education

Regular informal sessions and ad-hoc free discussion on moral values are conducted to impart good Values to the residents and strengthen their character. The imparting of these values is intensified during spiritual classes conducted weekly by the Swamis. Through the years, many boys have graduated from this Home to become upright and responsible adults with positive contributions to the society.
